We found this detailed tutorial over at kevinandamanda.com. The site walks you through step-by-step on how to modify your camera to take heart-shaped, snowflake-shaped or any-shaped Christmas tree lights.
"Custom Bokeh is my favorite new technique. No, I don’t have little heart-shaped Christmas lights on my tree… and I didn’t have to buy any special lenses or filters to get this look, either! All I had to do was use a little tape, scissors and paper- all the stuff I already have in my scrapbook room."

OrganicGardening.com shares the facts about which is the truly greener option: a live Christmas tree or a fake one.
"The allure of an artificial Christmas tree is obvious: reusable, dependably lush and symmetrical, and best of all, mess-and maintenance-free. But convenience has an environmental price tag, making fresh, fragrant, real trees a better choice. Artificial trees are made from materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and metal and are often imported from China. Because they cannot be recycled, artificial trees end up in landfills when they are no longer useful."
Most disturbing, they report that artificial trees older than 9 years old contain dangerous levels of lead.
